CHEMBRA FORTE 250G
Product Details
Why this one is different
Almost all Robusta in India is grown for volume, processed washed, and blended away into something else. This isn't that. It's a single origin lot from Wayanad, dried on the cherry, and graded specialty. Most roasters who put Robusta in a bag are hiding it. We put its name on the front.
In the cup
Heavy bodied with a thick, lasting crema, and a dark chocolate base you'd expect from Robusta. What you might not expect is the sweetness. Natural processing, where the cherry dries whole around the bean, brings a dried fruit note through that washed Robusta simply doesn't have. Low acidity, long finish, and none of the rubbery bitterness Robusta gets blamed for.
Where it comes from
Chembra Peak is the highest point in Wayanad. The coffee comes from the estates below it, bought direct from local farmer producer organisations, dry milled and roasted at our own factory in Chundale, twenty minutes down the road. Every pack carries a batch number and a QR code that takes you back to the lot.
Recommended recipe
18g in, 36 to 40g out, 27 to 30 seconds. Adjust to your grinder and your water. It takes milk well but is worth pulling straight at least once, because most people have never tasted specialty Robusta on its own. Rest three to five days off the roast date.
Who it's for
Cafés that want a point of difference on the menu rather than another Arabica blend. Specialty bars looking for a single origin Robusta worth naming on the board. And anyone who thinks they don't like Robusta, which usually means they've only had the cheap kind.
