In the cup
Dark chocolate and roasted grain with a heavy, syrupy body and almost no acidity. Because the coffee is naturally processed, dried whole on the cherry, there's a rounded sweetness underneath the strength that washed Robusta doesn't have. Bold by design, not bitter by accident.
No chicory
Most filter coffee sold in India is 20 to 40 percent chicory. Chicory is cheaper, it adds body and a caramel sweetness, and there is nothing wrong with it. But if you have ever wondered what your morning cup would taste like without it, this is the answer. Pure Robusta, nothing added.
How to brew it
Works in a South Indian steel filter, a moka pot or a French press. In a filter, two heaped tablespoons in the upper chamber, water just off the boil, fifteen to twenty minutes to drip, then one part decoction to three parts hot milk. In a press, four tablespoons to 500ml, four minutes. It takes milk and sugar well and holds its own against jaggery.
Who it's for
Anyone who finds Arabica too light, wants the strongest cup in our range, or is deliberately avoiding chicory. Also the right pack if you want more caffeine, since Robusta carries roughly twice as much as Arabica.
What's in it
100 percent Robusta, naturally processed, medium roast. Grown in the Western Ghats. Roasted and ground in small batches at our factory in Chundale, Wayanad. Net weight 100g, around 10 cups. Every pack carries the batch number, roast date and best before, plus a QR code linking back to the lot. Read the roast date, not just the best before.
